Anson is a disputes specialist with a primary focus on complex commercial litigation and international arbitration. His practice spans a broad range of sectors, with a particular focus on fintech, white collar crimes, regulatory investigations, contentious insolvency, and debt and asset recovery. He is also well experienced in shipping disputes, and oil and gas matters. He is well versed in emergency relief applications, including Mareva and proprietary injunctions.
He has acted in high-stakes disputes across multiple jurisdictions, including advising a Fortune 500 company in recovering US$400 million in fraudulently acquired assets, and representing a global shipowner in the concurrent arrest of a fleet of oil tankers in multiple jurisdictions, as well as conducting global enforcement and insolvency actions. His clients include major financial institutions, state-owned enterprises, international law firms, multinational corporations and fintech companies.
Anson has extensive arbitration experience under HKIAC, ICC, SIAC, LMAA, and UNCITRAL rules, covering multi-national joint ventures, cross-border debt recovery, oil and gas operations, and maritime disputes. His arbitration work frequently involves coordinating multi-jurisdictional strategy and managing parallel court and tribunal processes.
Anson is also an accomplished mooter, having won multiple awards at local and international competitions, including the Best Oralist and Best Team prizes at the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot (Asia-Pacific).
Prior to joining Tang and Co. (in association with Helmsman LLC), Anson practised at leading international and regional disputes law firms. He has also served as a moot coach at the University of Hong Kong and contributed to academic publications on cross-border arbitration.
Anson holds a Juris Doctor and PCLL from the University of Hong Kong, and a Bachelor of Journalism with a second major in Global Studies. He is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
