Iris Ng

Iris specialises in shipping and trade disputes. She has represented clients before the Singapore courts and in institutional and ad hoc arbitrations. Prior to joining Helmsman, Iris was a Justices’ Law Clerk at the Supreme Court and State Counsel at the Attorney-General's Chambers where she worked on a broad range of contentious matters. 

Iris obtained her LL.M. from Harvard Law School after graduating from Singapore Management University as Valedictorian of her LL.B. cohort. She was the recipient of several academic prizes, including Dean’s Scholar Prizes for international trade law and the international law of the sea, and the Bird & Bird Prize for her research paper on commercial conflict of laws.

Iris has won essay competitions organized by the California Arbitration institute (2023), Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (2021) and Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration (2021). She also placed second in essay competitions organized by the London Shipping Law Centre (2025), Young ICCA (2024), and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Young Members Group (2023), as well as in the Singapore Academy of Law-Microsoft Prompt Engineering Competition (2024). 

Iris is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. She is qualified to practise Singapore and English law.
