Maureen Poh

Maureen leads our Shipping Practice Group. She is regularly cited in legal publications as a key name for charterparty disputes and cargo claims. She has significant experience in energy transportation across a range of vessels from bulk carriers, oil, chemical and gas tankers to floating storage and regasification units. 

Maureen sits on the Advisory Board of the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) Centre for Maritime Law.

Experience / Representative Matters

Shipping

Acted for buyers/shipowners in disputes against a shipyard arising out of a series of LNG vessels shipbuilding contracts.

Acting for one of the world’s major container lines against cargo claimants in various cargo claims in the Singapore High Court, and successfully defended all of them so far.

Acting for owners and insurers of “MARINE HONOUR” in the recent oil spill case arising out of the allision between “VOX MAXIMA” and “MARINE HONOUR”, including the constitution of the first CLC limitation fund in Singapore. 

Acting for a dominant player in the barging industry in respect of both contentious and non-contentious matters arising from an EPC and barging contract involving various parties across a number of jurisdictions. 

Successfully defended a shipowner in London arbitration in respect of a cargo contamination claim brought by cargo claimants.

Acted for a long-running matter for a shipowner relating to the grounding of a vessel in a South-east Asian country causing extensive damage to a terminal.
