Natalee Ho

Natalee is a commercial disputes lawyer with experience in both litigation and arbitration. She has represented clients in a wide range of domestic and cross-border disputes, including contract, property, joint venture and shareholder, international trade, as well as banking and finance disputes. Before Helmsman, Natalee practiced in two of the largest law firms in Singapore.

Natalee read law at the National University of Singapore. She was a recipient of the Straits Law Practice Prize for Best in Legal Analysis, Research and Communication, and made the Dean’s List. She was on the champion teams for the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (Singapore National Round) and the Attorney-General’s Cup, and clinched the individual award for Best Oralist in both competitions.

Natalee also holds a Bachelor of Arts from New York University, where she was a recipient of the Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Academic Excellence Award for outstanding work in her degree concentration.

Natalee is fluent in English and Mandarin. She is an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.


Experience / Representative Matters

Commercial Disputes

Acting for a Luxembourg investment fund in a multi-million dollar trade insurance policy claim against a global general insurance and reinsurance company before the Singapore High Court. 

Acted for a major South-east Asian holdings company in relation to a guarantee it provided for one of its subsidiaries, a listed oil and gas entity. The multi-jurisdictional dispute involved complex issues relating to the interpretation of guarantees and foreign law, and concerned claims in excess of USD 125 million. 

Defended the subsidiaries of a listed conglomerate in a shareholders’ dispute concerning a fintech company in the payment and financial services business. The dispute involved allegations of minority oppression, with claims in the region of USD 150 million. Concurrent proceedings were brought in arbitration and in the courts across multiple jurisdictions. 

Defended a Chinese commodities firm against a claim of approximately USD 8 million for alleged breaches of a commodities contract brought by an international commodities trading firm.

Shipping

Advised a large state-owned shipowner on various breaches and potential termination by their charterers in relation to a total of 12 time charters/vessels.

Employment

Advised on and conducted investigations into complaints of employee misconduct made by 2 employees against each other relating to sexual harassment for a multinational trading company.
