Experience / Representative Matters

Shipping

Assisted shipowners in a multi-million dollar claim in the Singapore High Court involving wrongful arrest, conspiracy by unlawful means and fraudulent misrepresentation by the vessel’s ex-owners.  A favourable settlement was obtained following a successful application for domestic and international freezing injunctions, and disclosure orders against the ultimate beneficial owner of the ex-owners.

Assisted charterers with obtaining an injunction against winding up from the Singapore High Court. The winding up application was made pursuant to a statutory demand issued by shipowners for sums due under a partial final award issued in a London arbitration between charterers and shipowners.  The injunction was granted on the basis of charterers having evidenced that they had a prima facie cross-claim in the arbitration that exceeded the sum under the partial final award.
