Teoh Su Yin

Su Yin has a multi-disciplinary background in law, education and research. She began her legal career as a litigator and transitioned into a broad range of non-contentious corporate, banking and finance work for a diverse clientele before focusing on transactional banking/finance work. Her experience includes working in major Singapore law firms and in the Singapore branch of a foreign bank.

After being in private practice for over twenty years (including as director and partner at two Big Four Singapore law firms), and driven by a commitment to address the limitations of positional and reactive problem-solving, Su Yin explored evidence-based approaches to realising people’s capacity for achieving personal and organisational goals in challenging circumstances. She did this while lawyering in-house, for the most part, as general counsel in the R&D sector, a space where sound governance and effective cross-border collaborations are critical. This expanded her legal expertise into corporate stewardship, the legal dimensions of data as an asset and research commercialisation. She returned to private practice after completing her master’s degree in education and other academic pursuits.

Today, Su Yin combines legal expertise with human insight to support cross-border banking and finance transactions, data-driven ventures, and organisational resilience. Her experience working with both the public and private sectors in highly regulated environments, and her ability to employ process facilitation and facilitative training to manage legal risks, enable her to advance practical, client-centric solutions.

Su Yin first came to Singapore on a government scholarship, and obtained her bachelor’s and master’s law degrees from the National University of Singapore. She also holds teaching and adult education credentials, and a master’s degree in education (with a major in developmental psychology) from Singapore’s National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University. In addition, she is an IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional (Asia). She is fluent in English and Malay and proficient in Bahasa Indonesia, Cantonese, and Hokkien.
