Rising Stars: Anson Douglas named ALB Hong Kong Rising Star 2026
Published by Thomson Reuters, the ALB Hong Kong Rising Stars list recognises lawyers under 40 for their expertise and standing with clients and peers.
Anson is a disputes specialist in the firm’s Hong Kong office, with a primary focus on complex commercial litigation and international arbitration. His practice includes fintech disputes, white collar crime and regulatory investigations, contentious insolvency, and debt and asset recovery. He is regularly instructed on emergency relief applications, including Mareva and proprietary injunctions.
He has advised a Fortune 500 company on the recovery of US$400 million in fraudulently acquired assets, and acted for a US bank in receivership to recover over US$50 million in misappropriated funds. He has represented a state-owned financier in the concurrent arrest of oil tankers across multiple jurisdictions, defended a Hong Kong-listed property developer in a HK$200 million bond dispute, and acted for banks and MNCs in debt recovery and pursuit of cross-border insolvency actions.
Anson holds a Juris Doctor and a PCLL from the University of Hong Kong, having read journalism with a second major in global studies at undergraduate level. He has contributed to academic publications on cross-border arbitration and coaches mooting teams at the University of Hong Kong, where he was himself an award-winning mooter, including taking Best Oralist and Best Team at the Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot (Asia-Pacific).
