Rising Stars: Constance Leong And Arjun Mital named ALB Singapore Rising Stars 2026
Helmsman is pleased to announce that Constance Leong and Arjun Mital, both Associate Directors at the firm, have been recognised as Singapore Rising Stars 2026 by Asian Legal Business ("ALB").
The ALB Asia Singapore Rising Stars list highlights the country's next-generation legal leaders under the age of 40. Honourees are recognised not only for their technical mastery but for their role in shaping the industry's future, having demonstrated the ability to anticipate and meet client needs, deliver high-quality work, and earned accolades from clients, colleagues and supervisors.
Constance Leong is a corporate, banking and finance lawyer with a strong focus on shipping, ship finance and cross-border financing transactions. With a background in non-contentious shipping matters, she combines sector-specific expertise with financing capabilities to deliver commercially pragmatic solutions across the maritime industry. In additional to traditional financings, she regularly advises on vessel financings, sale-and-leaseback structures, and on non-contentious shipping transactions such as shipping joint ventures, ship sale and purchase transactions, vessel registrations, and other strategic maritime transactions. Constance is also proficient in ISDA transactions and has been able to advise an international trading house on their hedging needs, managing an entire portfolio of ISDA negotiations across many jurisdictions. A former Mizuho Bank legal counsel, where she gained valuable insight into the commercial and risk considerations of financial institutions. Constance is an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.
Arjun Mital is a go-to specialist in shipping and international trade law, with over a decade of experience spanning contentious and advisory work across major maritime jurisdictions. Having worked on more than 300 ship sale-purchase transactions and handled matters before tribunals under the LMAA, SCMA, SIAC and ICA, he combines rare cross-border reach with deep sector fluency. Arjun advises on ship building, leasing, financing, charterparty structuring and commercial shipping arrangements and regularly acts for shipowners, traders and insurers on disputes in shipping, commodities, P&I and FD&D cases across various jurisdictions.
Dual qualified in England and Wales and India, and a registered Foreign Lawyer in Singapore, Arjun holds an LL.M. in International Maritime Law from Swansea University, with distinction.
